MENA region fintech Pyypl has strengthened its partnership with Visa by issuing the latter’s range of physical and virtual prepaid cards.
With an aim to democratise access to financial services, Pyypl will leverage its principle licence to issue virtual and physical Visa cards via its mobile app, enabling a more seamless process for financial inclusion in the MENA region.
Antti Arponen, CEO and Co-Founder of Pyypl, said: “Our payments ecosystem has multiple benefits for Visa and will accelerate the provision of financial services to the vast population of underserved digital natives in the region.
“Working closely with Visa and local regulators in new markets, we are focused on growing Pyypl’s presence and contributing to advancing financial inclusion across the region.”
Pyypl operates across several markets across Africa and the Middle East. With a goal to transform and digitise financial services to a market of 850 million undeserved smartphone users, the integration of Visa virtual cards will provide further access.
Visa also has a closer focus on the emerging MENA region by providing its array of financial services to support and grow financial institutions with modern payment technology.
Hasan Kazmi, VP Head of Strategic Partnerships and Ventures – CEMEA, Visa, added: “We are delighted to welcome Pyypl to our mission of advancing financial inclusion. We believe in empowering underbanked consumers by providing them with innovative, secure payment solutions.
“This not only gives them access to the digital economy, but also helps them thrive in this increasingly digital age.”
